GARLAND – By Cari Doutre, Headliner Publisher, October 19, 2022

More victims are coming forward after the arrest of Patrick Green, 59, a former teacher at Garland Elementary School. Green was arrested Monday morning on four first-degree felony counts of Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child.

The Division of Child and Family Services and the Tremonton Garland Police Department first received a report of alleged child abuse on September 9, 2022, just 10 days into the new school year. Green was placed on administrative leave for five weeks “to ensure the safety and well-being of our students,” as stated in an email sent to parents/guardians on Monday afternoon from Box Elder School District.

According to a probable cause statement, during an investigation conducted by the Tremonton Garland Police Department, two separate juvenile victims disclosed detailed information describing inappropriate sexual touching and abuse from Green on multiple occasions.

Based on the evidence investigators found and those victim statements, Green was placed under arrest and booked into the Box Elder County Jail on October 17. He is being held without bail. Formal charges have not been filed while the case is currently under review by the Box Elder County Attorney’s office.

In a press conference held by the Tremonton Garland Police Department on Tuesday afternoon, Police Chief Dustin Cordova stated that additional victims have come forward with reports of inappropriate sexual behavior from Green. He added that the department is using every resource they have available in this ongoing investigation.

“This has every asset we have thrown at it right now,” Cordova said.

Cordova also urged reporters in attendance at the press conference to be considerate by refraining from releasing any sensitive information in this case that could cause additional harm to the victims.

“We’re doing everything we can to protect our community,” he added.

Green was a teacher at Box Elder School District for 24 years, the last eight years teaching at Garland Elementary. After investigation efforts confirmed that improper conduct took place, Box Elder School District fired Green. A replacement teacher was hired during the investigation to take over his class and will continue teaching for the remainder of the school year.

“This was the first report received by the school district of sexual abuse involving Mr. Green,” the school district stated.
