NEWS - "Hit and run accident with a power pole knocks out power in Honeyville"

HONEYVILLE – By Ellen Cook – June 26, 2020

Part of Honeyville was without power this morning when residents woke up. The outage happened when an unknown vehicle struck a power pole on Hwy 38 just before 5 a.m.

The impact took down the pole near 6625 N. and brought down live lines across the highway.

The Box Elder County Sheriff and Utah Highway Patrol, as well as a fire crew from Honeyville responded, keeping traffic out of the area until Rocky Mountain Power could respond and take care of the situation.

The homeowner, who called in the accident, said he heard the impact then a lot of yelling before there were screeching tires as the vehicle left, going northbound. As the pole went down, it also took with it the conduit going into their home so they will be without power for a longer period of time, according a RMP worker at the scene.

The power was out for about six hours.

The suspect vehicle may be missing part of its grill and a headlight, found at the scene and will likely have extensive front end damage as well.
