I-84 - August 12, 2022
A semi truck hauling potatoes caught fire Thursday evening. August 11, and I-84 was closed for a time as crews extinguished the flames.
A report from Utah Highway Patrol said the fire started in the engine of the truck at about Mile Marker 29.5 and was called into Box Elder Dispatch about 9:15 p.m. The driver was headed eastbound, but was able to exit the vehicle before fire units from Tremonton and Box Elder County Fire arrived.
The truck was blocking the only open lane in the construction area so troopers had to shut down eastbound travel until the fire was out and debris was removed.
