PROMONTORY - June 21, 2022
Two Box Elder County employees with the Weed Department were involved in ATV accidents while working in the Promontory area on Tuesday, June 21. The second accident resulted in the death of the worker.
A press release stated the first accident happened in the early afternoon. The worker sustained a serious injury and was transported to the hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.
The second accident occurred immediately after. That worker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Utah State Parks and the Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division are heading up the investigation and will release more information when they have completed it.
Anne K. Hansen, representing Box Elder County, said, "Our first concern is for the employees and their families. Our hearts are with them in the face of this terrible tragedy."
The names are not being released until family notification is complete.
