GARLAND – By Cari Doutre - June 10, 2021
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of a fire that occurred June 9, in Garland on Canal Bank Road where two family pets did not survive.
According to the Garland Fire Department, at approximately 5:30 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call reporting a fire in an apartment inside a two-story warehouse building located at 12424 Canal Bank Road where smoke and flames were visible.
“While units were en-route, more incoming reports stated no hydrant was nearby so a water tender from Corinne Fire was dispatched to assist with water supply efforts,” as stated in a press release from Garland Fire Department.
Crews were able to make a quick entry and knockdown to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the building.
“The occupants were able to escape safely with no injuries were reported. Unfortunately, two family pets did not survive,” the department stated.
