NEWS - UHP: "Helmets saved lives" following crash

BRIGHAM CITY - June 6, 2022

A motorcycle driver and his female passenger were injured Sunday evening in a motorcycle crash on I-15, but Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Arik Beesley said, "Both were wearing helmets, which saved their lives."

The accident occurred about 5:30 p.m., June 5, as the driver was taking the 900 North exit near Brigham City. Beesley said it appears the motorcycle may have been traveling too fast on the off-ramp and went off the roadway onto the shoulder. He attempted to make a correction back onto the roadway but lost control and crashed.

Both occupants were thrown from the motorcycle and sustained injuries. Brigham EMS responded and transported them to Brigham City Community Hospital for treatment. AirMed was also called but it is unknown whether either of the patients were airlifted.

Officers from the Willard Police Department assisted with traffic control at the scene.
