SALT LAKE CITY - February 4, 2021
Utah Music Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing scholarships to musical students from Utah communities, is thrilled to offer a new scholarship in partnership with the Dee Pace Memorial Foundation. This $500 scholarship will be offered to Utah high school seniors with a background in musical theater and will honor the late Dee Pace, a celebrated educator, beloved performer and director, and active member of the Utah arts community.
“Dee Pace is a performer who, through his work on the stage and in the classroom, has profoundly influenced thousands of Utahns,” says Tim Eaton, CEO and Founder of Utah Music Foundation. “We are delighted to partner with the Dee Pace Memorial Foundation to provide a scholarship to honor his legacy.”
Nedra Pace, Dee’s most frequent creative collaborator and his wife of 42 years, notes that “Dee spent his life doing what he loved -- teaching and supporting young people in musical theater. It is heartwarming to know that his legacy in arts education will continue for deserving high school students through this scholarship.”
One $500 scholarship will be awarded based on the student’s involvement in musical theater and a brief essay. This short essay will invite students to reflect on how their experience in theater has impacted their community and how they will be involved in theater going forward. The application process opens on January 27 at www.utahmusicfoundation.org and concludes March 31. The scholarship winner will be announced no later than April 30.
