Off to a great start, the Bear River High boys’ wrestling team kicked off their 2022-23 season with a trip to Davis High on November 22-23. In an eight team round robin competition, Bear River dominated at the Davis Duals defeating all eight teams they faced. They followed that success up with two more team wins at the Jordan Duals on November 30, against Jordan High and Hunter High.
Returning to the Bear River High wrestling mat this year are a group of talented senior leaders and one defending state champion, among other promising talent to watch for. State placers from last year, seniors Max Miller (4th), Braegger Richards (6th) and Kwade Kosoff (6th), are ready to lead the Bears in their final year on the wrestling mat.
Capturing a 4A state championship title his freshman year, sophomore Daxton Bingham will return to the Bears’ team moving up a few weight classes after taking state last year at 106. Joining him as a returning state placer is junior Ty Hawkes who took 4th in the 4A state tournament last year at 126 and sophomore Vincent Fertig who placed 6th in state last year.
With a promising start to the season already are juniors Caleb Korth, Chet Kunzler, Jaron Nelson, Skyler Yeates and Jared Jones. Sophomores Max Anderson and Brandon Thorsted, along with freshman Payden Rupp, will also bring the talent to the Bear River High wrestling mat again this year.

The Bear River High boys’ wrestling team will be taking on the Syracuse Scuffle this weekend (December 2-3) at Syracuse High followed by a trip to Box Elder High on Thursday, December 8.
