SPORTS - "Bear River Wrestlers Close Out 2022 in Star Valley, Wyoming"

Closing out the year 2022 with a trip to Star Valley, Wyoming on December 29, the Bear River High boys' wrestling team struggled on the mat during their two team duals with just one wrestler going undefeated that day - senior Max Miller.


It was a low scoring affair for Bear River when it came time to face Minico High from Rupert, Idaho on the wrestling mat. Miller at 132 (Fall 3:28) and senior Braegger Richards at 152 (Dec. 6-5) were the only two Bears to walk away with a win as the Spartans defeated Bear River, 67-9.


The Bears were evenly matched against host school Star Valley High with both teams putting up 37 points each in their dual. Earning the win over their opponents from Star Valley include:

  • 132 - Max Miller (MD 8-0)

  • 138 - Chet Kunzler (Dec. 12-7)

  • 145 - Caleb Korth (Fall 4:46)

  • 170 - Skyler Yeates (Fall 3:36)

  • 220 - Max Anderson (Fall 4:40)

  • 106 - Jaxon Morgan (Forfeit)

  • 195 - Kwade Kosoff (Forfeit)

Junior varsity wrestlers from Bear River High also struggled against their competition that day losing both of their team duals.

  • 152 - Jaron Nelson (Fall 1:08)

  • 160 - KC Tisher (Fall :31)

Star Valley 39, Bear River 18

  • 132 - Ty Hawkes (Injury forfeit)

  • 152 - Jaron Nelson (Fall 1:37)

  • 182 - Jared Jones (Fall 4:36)

Next up for the Bear River High boys' wrestling team is the start of the Region 11 season as the Bears travel to Logan High School on Thursday, January 5. Catch Bear River Live's livestreaming coverage starting at 7 p.m. on the links below.



The Bears will then compete in the Richardson Memorial Tournament January 6-7, at Box Elder High School.
