The Bear River High boys' basketball team bounced back from their recent two-game losing streak when they hosted Mountain Crest High on January 19. It was a tight battle from start to finish with the two teams trading blows. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was tied, 38-38, but Bear River was able to pull out the thrilling victory over the Mustangs with a final score of 55-52.
Junior Bridger Barfuss led the Bears in scoring with 15 points. He also added 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Senior Denver Reese contributed 12 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Junior Gehrig Marble pitched in 8 points to go along with team highs in rebounds with six and assists with five.

On January 24, the Bears hosted Logan High. Bear River kept it close through three quarters, but the fourth quarter was dominated by the Grizzlies as they extended their lead and left with a 68-53 win over the Bears.
Junior Kyver Jensen led the Bears in scoring with 15 points while adding seven rebounds, 2 assists and three steals. Barfuss scored 13 points and added four rebounds and two steals. Junior Owen Olsen added 8 points to his team high 4 assists and three steals.

The Bears rebounded after a tough loss to the Grizzlies with a road win against Green Canyon High on January 26. The Bears returned to Garland with a 54-41 win over the Wolves.
Jensen again led the Bears in scoring with 13 points. He also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Junior Jace Roberts was all over the boards as he pulled down a team high 11 rebounds, including 3 offensive rebounds. He also had 5 points and 3 assists. Reese had a solid game with 6 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists.

Having played all five region teams, it's time to do it all over as the Bears prepare for their upcoming schedule. They will host Sky View High on February 3, and Ridgeline High on February 8, before they travel to Mountain Crest High on February 10. All games are scheduled for 7 p.m.
