SPORTS - "Bears take the win on home course"

In their only home tournament of the season, the 2020 Bear River High boys’ golf team not only honored their Class of 2021 graduating seniors, they also took first place in the tournament.

On Monday, August 24, Skyway Golf Course in Tremonton was the site of the day’s Region 11 competition. Having an advantage over other teams on their home course, the Bears came in first overall (302) followed by Ridgeline High (306), Green Canyon High (310), Sky View High (332), Logan High (333) and Mountain Crest High (341).

Bear River senior Jarett Giles took first individually at the tournament, shooting a 69, and landing him back on top on the competitive field. Dylan Christensen came in third (72), Dalton Jones took seventh (79) and Ryker Bennett rounded out the top 10 for the Bears landing in eighth place (82).

School has yet to start for Bear River High students, but with the Bears only hosting one tournament a season, the team took this opportunity to honor those graduating seniors.

Next up for the Bears will be a Region 11 tournament at Logan River Golf Course (Mountain Crest High’s home course) on Thursday, September 3. Tee time is set for 1 p.m.
