A full schedule of dual wrestling meets, and weekend tournaments have kept the Bear River High School boys’ wrestling team busy throughout January – and there’s no break for the team anytime soon.

Last week the Bears hosted their first home meet of the season on Jan. 14, and it just happened to be against the defending 4A state wrestling champions from Mountain Crest High School.

The Bears lost to the Mustangs, 50-21.

Following up their region meet against the Mustangs, the Bears traveled to Layton High School on Jan. 16, for the L.I.T. wrestling tournament.

Going up against 17 other teams in the tournament, Bear River High finished in sixth place overall while sending two varsity wrestlers into the finals that day.

Landon Cabral, a senior at Bear River High wrestling at 170, took second place in his weight division after taking a loss to Caleb Marx from Box Elder High, 9-5, in the finals.

At 106, sophomore Max Miller took second place after a 9-4 loss to Jace Lemons from Layton High School in the finals.
