SPORTS – “Harrow pitches a no-hitter against Sky View”

In a 10-0 win over Region 11’s Sky View High School, Ashton Harrow, a junior from Bear River High School, pitched a perfect game leading the Bears on the mound.

In just five innings of play (mercy rule) Harrow gave up no hits, walked zero and struck out two on Friday, April 16, at Bear River High’s home field. At the plate Harrow went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The lucky number of the day for Bear River’s catcher, Garrison “B” Marble, was the number three as the junior went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a double. Senior Easton Lish (first base) went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Hunter Smoot (shortstop) also went 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and junior Hunter Harrow (centerfield) went 2-for-2. Rhett Christensen had a triple – a line drive to right field in the third inning.

Earlier in the week the Bears’ three-game series against Region 11’s Sky View High started on April 13, where the Bears fell to the Bobcats 6-5 at Bear River High.

Lish pitched the first five innings for the Bears striking out eight and giving up five runs. Derek Dean had the loss on the mound and gave up just one hit and one run.

Finishing up the series against the Bobcats on Monday, April 19, the Bears took home a 13-3 win.

Senior Marcus Callister had an impressive game at the plate going 4-for-5 with three RBIs. Giles brought in three runs of his own while H. Harrow went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double. Christensen, Lish and A. Harrow each had doubles for the Bears.

On the mound Taden Marble struck out seven and gave up six hits in six innings. H. Harrow finished the game on the mound striking out three and giving up just one hit.

Catching up with earlier games, the Bears beat Bonneville High School 17-0 on April 8. They also earned the win over Cedar Valley High School on April 7, 14-1.

On March 30, Bear River started their three-game series against Region 11’s Ridgeline High School. The Bears lost to the Riverhawks on March 30, 7-3, and on March 31, 8-7. They finished the series on April 1 with an 8-3 win over the Ridgeline High.

Up next for the Bear River High baseball team is another Region 11 three-game series, this time with Logan High School starting Tuesday, April 20, at Logan High. The Bears will host the Grizzlies on Wednesday, April 21, starting at 3:30 p.m. and finish the series on Friday, April 23, at Logan High.
