TREMONTON - By Cari Doutre, Headliner Publisher, September 1, 2022

In a statement released by the Tremonton Garland Police Department on September 1, more information has been made public about Wednesday night’s possible motive in a shooting that occurred in Tremonton at approximately 9:45 p.m.

According to investigators, an argument over a stolen e-bike and a backpack containing a financial card and work documents led to a confrontation between the suspect in this case, Richard Barlow, 34, and two other men.

During an interview with Barlow the report said, “Richard indicated that he believed that he knew who had taken the items and knew where he could find that individual.”

Barlow told investigators that him and two men had a confrontation near 400 W. and 1000 N., in Tremonton that escalated quickly and according to the report, “Barlow said the men were coming toward him and he fired three times striking both men.”

The victims, Jeramy Lott, 40, and Shane Durkee, 36, remain in critical condition.

The report added that Barlow threw his clothing away in the trash and was about to take a shower when officers from the Tremonton Garland Police Department and Box Elder Sheriff’s deputies arrived and arrested him. A 9mm handgun was collected into evidence and believed to be the gun used to shoot the victims.
